Valerie Mayfield, French & English Teacher

Valerie's language journey began early. From being raised by a Francophile mother, to living in South Korea and then in France, Valerie has had a diverse set of experiences to make her the strong teacher that she is today. Valerie believes that a key part of having a good travel experience is knowing some of the local language. Mrs. Mayfield has enjoyed her time teaching at the elementary, intermediate, high school, and adult levels.

Mrs. Mayfield has an appreciation for other cultures and the difficulty of learning a new language from her time in South Korea. Mrs. Mayfield spent some time there as a young adult picking up the language, studying local soap operas, and even asking the local children for help understanding new words. Mrs. Mayfield applies "look, listen, learn," to her classroom to make learning as innovative, fun, and genuine as possible.

"With due diligence, one can learn a language," Valerie says.
